Education for Employability
For you as a year eight, nine or ten pupil in school, paid work or employment might seem far away! But is it? You probably already talk to adults around you about what they do. In fact you may already have in mind some ideas about the kind of things you might like to do later on in life. But you will probably change your mind many times! But don’t worry about that, it is perfectly normal to change your mind. Getting ready for work is not just about choosing a path. It is important however, that you keep you options open for as long as possible! Through education for employability you will find out about careers and jobs which you have never heard of before. How exciting is that! In fact some jobs of the future have not even been invented yet.
In your employability classes you will be involved in enjoyable activities about what skills and qualities are, and what employers say they are looking for, as well as the importance of qualifications. This will help you to see straightaway the connection between what you are studying in school and the world-of-work. So school is really important, not just for you as a person but also for your work ideas!
